I unfortunately missed the new Jane Campion film 'Bright Star' on release so I was happy to see the BFI were showing it in early March and booked a ticket.. then I got ill. Missed it. Typical. I finally saw it on DVD this week and it is stunning. I was hoping so. In my opinion, this is even better than Angel at my Table, and for so long that was my favourite of her films.
I can't usually stand period pieces (especially the sexed up trash the BBC mostly puts out), but this I found to be very real, the acting felt perfectly human, playful and flirty at times and completely serious when it needed to be.
Excellent film, really do recommend it.
I have been enthralled by this Russian dark ambient artist this last week. His work consists entirely of voice which has been ripped through electronic sequencers and machines and the like, it leads to an extremely eerie and intense listening experience. I don't know if I completely follow his beliefs but he clearly doesn't like any of us.
